Class 3 Bright Sparks

We’re thrilled to welcome you to our class community! This year promises to be full of exciting learning, creativity, and growth. We can’t wait to share all the wonderful things we’re doing in Class 3.

Meet the Team

  • Class Teacher: Mrs McGrath

  • Teaching Assistant: Mrs Burton-Duff

Together, we’re here to support every child in their learning journey.

Our Routines

The day begins at 8.55 and ends at 3.20.

Children do not need to bring in pencil cases as all equipment is provided.

During the morning break, you can bring in a healthy snack or fruit to eat. We are a nut-free school, so please do not bring any food items into school which contain nuts or traces of nuts.

Please bring a named water bottle into school. This needs to be taken home daily to be washed thoroughly.

Lunchtime is at 12.00 and the children have one hour for lunch.

Within Year 4, 5 and 6, the children have many roles and responsibilities. The children can apply for a range of monitor roles in school, which include PE, library, assembly, classroom, ICT and register monitors. These roles help build confidence, responsibility, and teamwork.

At the beginning of the Autumn term, each class will vote for a school council representative who will represent the class at the school council meetings.

As we step into the second half of our Autumn term, Class 3 is buzzing with curiosity and creativity! Here's a look at the exciting topics we'll be exploring:

Curriculum Highlights

  • English: Inspired by A Christmas Carol, we’ll be writing a brand-new chapter, crafting poetry, and even scripting a play!

  • RE: Exploring the theme of Prophecy and Promise.

  • Science: Investigating Living Things and Their Habitats.

  • Geography: Discovering What it's like to live near Liverpool.

  • Design Technology: Building knowledge through Structures

  • Computing: Learning about Online Safety, Quizzing, and Spreadsheets.

  • Music: Our focus will be the unit Stop!

Homework

  • Weekly spelling lists will be sent home and tested each Thursday.

  • Children will complete spelling activities on Purple Mash.

  • Weekly SPaG.com tasks will also be assigned to reinforce grammar skills.

 PE Days

  • PE lessons take place every Wednesday and Friday.

  • Please ensure children come to school wearing their full PE kit on these days. Thank you for your continued support!

If you have any questions—especially about Maths concepts or how to support learning at home—please feel free to contact Mrs McGrath.

As the term progresses, we’ll be adding more resources and links to support your child’s learning. Be sure to check our class page regularly for updates, snapshots of classroom life, and helpful curriculum tools.

Please have a look at the Class 3 Knowledge Organisers, which are contained within the link above. They will give you lots of information, as well as the topics and subjects that we will be studying over the coming term.
