Welcome to Class 1!

We are delighted that you have chosen St Mary’s Catholic Primary School to be the place where your child begins their school journey. We hope that this will be the beginning of an amazing adventure, for both you and your child, where we provide the best possible education, developmental experiences and memories to enable each individual to grow to their full potential by embracing their unique characteristics.

Class 1 includes Nursery, Reception and Year 1. 

PE Days

Wednesday (with Miss Wade): Reception & Year 1

Friday (Specialist PE Coach): Nursery, Reception & Year 1

Homework

All children in Class 1 have access to reading books, both physical and online. All reading books are assigned to match your child's Phonics ability. Reading books will be changed when your child has read the full book, and/or is fluent at reading the book and can answer comprehension questions. 

Year 1 children complete weekly spelling tests which take place every Friday morning. Again, all spellings are in line with their Phonics lessons. You can find the spellings for this half-term further down this page.
