Living and Learning Together - Shining in our Faith

EYFS

Welcome to St Mary’s Early Years Foundation Stage. Within our EYFS, we intend to allow our children to be happy, confident, and independent learners who are resilient, curious, and creative.

We understand the different ways that pupils learn and ensure that we allow opportunities for children to explore and learn through play. We believe learning through play is vital, we use the environment to ensure the children's needs are met through continuous provision, enhanced provision and following their interests. Staff also consider the individual needs, interests, and stage of development of each child in their care and use this information to plan a challenging and enjoyable experience.

At St. Mary’s, ongoing assessment is an integral part of the learning and development processes. Assessments begin when each child enters the EYFS.  Practitioners complete a Baseline Assessment on each child through observations, photographs, and work samples.  Practitioners continue to observe each child throughout the year, capturing significant moments of achievement, and building a personal Learning Journey for each child.
