Living and Learning Together - Shining in our Faith

Year 1&2

Welcome to year 1 and 2

We have had a fantastic start to our Autumn term and we are all excited to be back to school, ready to learn. The children are working hard and have had lots of fun settling into the new routines in our nearly enlarged classroom.

The teaching team in Year 1 and 2 includes Mrs McGrath who is our class teacher and she is supported by Mrs Hyland, our Teaching Assistant and Mrs Duff who provides one to one support within the classroom.  This term we are also joined in class by our SCITT Associate Teacher Miss Rainford.

In Year 1 and 2 we provide the children with focussed teaching and enhanced continuous provision, the activities set up in each area support the Year 1 and 2 Curriculum and provide the children with the opportunity to explore, embed and challenge their learning.

General Notices for Year 1 and 2

Reading at home is very important to all of Year 1 and 2 we are practising these skills regularly at home and in school. In school we will hear the children read regularly and every child should bring their reading books into school every day.

We still have snack in Year 1 and 2, and we enjoy sharing this together.

On Fridays we need to remember to bring our PE kits into school and we also need to remember to learn our spellings for our Friday test.

Homework this half term includes reading and learning our spellings.
